So I’ve actually managed to start writing a little for NaNoWriMo, though I’m not really sure if I’m going to make it to 50,000 words. I’ve got about a thousand so far. My story is still fairly vague but the world is a bit more fleshed out. I found a really good worldbuilding questionnaire online here, and I went through most of the questions to try to build my (as yet unnamed) country. I’m also pouring over some books I have on Old English, English place names, Norse myths, and so on. The names of characters and places are distinctly Anglo-Saxon. I guess my world is pretty anachronistic.
I’ve been collecting pictures and writing in my notebook since before November, but it’s hard to come to the story. I don’t really know if I want to write fantasy but this idea is forming (slowly).
Hopefully it will all come together. I’m listening to Destroyer’s album, Kaputt, and slowly working through it in my breaks from job applications and paper writing.
Em out!
